Uccelliera is a small estate in the warm southern part of Montalcino, near Castelnuovo dell'Abate, making only about 2,500 cases of Brunello a year. This is the 2021.
It's 100% Sangiovese from vineyards between 150 and 350 meters above sea level, aged 24 months in a mix of French and Slavonian oak. The warmth of the site gives the wine ripe fruit and generosity, while the large Slavonian oak keeps it traditional. Expect cherry and plum, dried herbs, leather and spice, with firm tannins and good acidity.
Decant it for an hour and serve around 62-64F in a large glass. It's made for grilled steak, wild boar, mushroom pasta or aged pecorino. A small-production Brunello that drinks well young and will reward a few years in the cellar.
