DESCRIPTION
Broadbent is a Madeira shipper, and this is a 10 Year Old Sercial, the driest of the classic Madeira grapes. It's aged in old oak casks using the traditional canteiro system, where the wine matures slowly in warm lofts rather than being heated.
Sercial gives Madeira its sharpest, most savory side. Expect citrus peel, toasted nuts and a little caramel, with very bright acidity that keeps the finish clean and long. It's dry, tangy and surprisingly refreshing.
Serve it lightly chilled in a small wine glass as an aperitif. It's excellent with salted almonds, olives, consommé, sushi or hard cheeses. Once open it lasts for months, so you can keep it on the shelf and pour a glass whenever you like.
