Armorik is a single malt from Brittany, made at the Warenghem distillery, one of the first in France to take whisky seriously. This bottling is finished in Oloroso sherry casks.
The sherry shows straight away. The nose is rich and elegant, with sherry fruit, vanilla and a little lemon and mint for freshness. The palate is round and balanced, with caramel sweets and more of that sherry character, and the finish is warm with a touch of pepper.
Drink it neat, or add a few drops of water to open it up. It's good after dinner with dark chocolate, dried fruit or a nutty cheese. A fun bottle for a whisky drinker who has done Scotland and wants to try something from somewhere else that still delivers.
