Chassagne-Montrachet is famous for white Burgundy, but some of its vineyards also grow red, and Morgeot is the best known of them. This is Blain's red Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot from 2019.
Morgeot sits at the southern end of the village, and its reds are known for being sturdier than most Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir. Expect dark cherry and red berry fruit, a little earth and spice, and firm but fine tannins. It's a red Burgundy with some backbone, not a light one.
Serve it around 60F in a wide Burgundy glass, and give it some air first. It goes well with roast duck, chicken with mushrooms, pork tenderloin or a soft washed-rind cheese. A good way to try red from a village most people only know for white.
