Armstrong makes wine in Walla Walla, Washington, one of the state's best areas for Cabernet Sauvignon. This is their 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Washington Cabernet tends to combine ripe fruit with fresh acidity, and this one follows that pattern. Expect Bing cherry and clove spice, then black currant and more cherry, with soft, flannel-like tannins and a finish of fresh blueberry. It's generous but not heavy.
Open it 30 minutes ahead and serve around 62-65F in a large glass. The winery suggests pairing it with a grilled ribeye or Cougar Gold, the cheddar made at Washington State University. A good bottle for anyone who wants to explore Washington reds.
