• Limited release wine-based aperitif produced by Veso in San Francisco, California • Botanicals include gentian root, dried bitter orange peel, and both fresh and dried grapefruit peel • Base of locally sourced California white wine (variety and source may vary batch to batch) • Neutral grape spirit distilled in Alameda, California • Sweetened to 175 g/l using cane sugar • A celebration of citrus with layered notes of grapefruit marmalade, canned tangerine, and orange Curaçao fortified with aged Cognac • Beer and Wine License eligible • 18% ABV An experimental release from Veso’s limited Eclipse series, Bitter Citrus is inspired by citrusy, gentian-forward amari and bitters such as Amaro Nonino and Suze. Produced using both fresh and dried citrus peels, the addition of gentian root—a traditional bittering agent commonly used in aperitifs and digestifs—adds an earthy, familiar bitterness that amplifies the fresh citrus flavors, making for a versatile cocktailing ingredient or base for a spritz.
