60 proof, made by M.S. Walker from real coffee bean extract on a neutral base. It was named for Leo Allen, who joined his father-in-law's business just after Prohibition ended, and it took off in Downeast Maine in the late 1960s among fishermen who added it to their coffee. For about twenty years it was the best-selling liquor in the state. Burnt coffee syrup on the nose, saccharine sweet on entry, then strong coffee, ending sharper than it starts.
