Alacran Tequila Reposado |
This reposado tequila was released in April 2016 by the Mexico City-based company, Auténtico Alacrán ("authentic scorpion"). It begins with 100% blue weber agave from the Los Altos (Highland) region of Jalisco, harvested 7 to 10 years after planting. The piñas (hearts) of the agave are vapor-cooked using local well water. After distillation, it ages for 4 months in American oak barrels, yielding a light amber hue.

Reposados in general are usually aged in their process anywhere from two months to 11 months. This gives a smooth, even finish. It's less harsh on the tongue. Tequila like this is usually aged in oak barrels which impart a little color and softening of the flavor. So this particular tequila follows this process very well and I would recommend this Reposado to anyone looking to drink 100% pure agave tequila.

Outstanding tequila for the price. It's a sipper. I like it on the rocks. If you like a clean, bright reposado, you can't go wrong with Alacran. Very light barrel flavor. Not too much caramel as is my taste. Clean finish. I discovered this tequila in Columbia, and had a hard time finding it here. No more! Here it is, and delivered to my door.
