Adelsheim is one of the founding wineries of Oregon's Willamette Valley, started by David and Ginny Adelsheim in 1971, when hardly anyone believed Pinot Noir could work there. This is the winery's Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.
Willamette Valley is Oregon's Pinot Noir heartland, and the style sits between Burgundy and California: bright and elegant, with more fruit than Burgundy but less weight than most California Pinot. Expect red cherry, raspberry and cranberry, with hints of spice and earth, and silky tannins.
Serve it slightly cool, around 58-60F, in a wide Burgundy glass. It's a great food wine: salmon, roast chicken, pork, duck or mushroom dishes. A reliable Oregon Pinot at a fair price, and a good place to start if you're new to the region.
