Figeac sits on gravel rather than the limestone most of Saint-Emilion is built on, which is why it carries an unusually high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and often smells more Medoc than Right Bank. The 2010 gives baked blueberry and black cherry with tobacco leaf, pencil lead and chocolate. Rich on entry, then it firms up, with real grip and length. From a great Bordeaux vintage and built for the long haul.
