Blue Label is the top of the regular Johnnie Walker range. It's blended from whiskies the company considers too rare to put anywhere else, and there's no age on the label because the blenders pick casks for flavour, not for a number.
It's very smooth, and that's the point. Honey, hazelnut and a faint rose-petal note on the nose. Then dark chocolate, dried fruit, vanilla and soft oak, with just a thread of smoke that hangs around after you swallow.
Johnnie Walker's own advice is a good one: sip some iced water first, then the whisky, and hold it in your mouth a moment. Neat, no ice. Each bottle is numbered, which is part of why it's the default gift for promotions, retirements and big birthdays.
