Decanter 93 points - WORLD WINE AWARDS 2018 (SILVER): Young, vibrant and fresh with a deep concentrated character of elegant blueberry, blackberry, black cherry and soft, gentle oak..May/2018

Wine Spectator 91 points - A robust red, with dark plum, dried cherry and wild herb flavors that are filled with muscular tannins. Intense dark chocolate notes linger on the racy finish. Drink now through 2021. 30,000 cases made. -KM.December/2018

Vinous 91 points - (vinified in concrete with one-third whole clusters, then aged in 70% concrete and 30% used oak): Bright, deep ruby-red. A touch of wildness to the fresh, nuanced aromas of black raspberry, purple flowers, licorice and wild herbs. Juicy and intense but also quite pliant, displaying good but not outstanding depth. Finishes with firm tannins and lingering notes of spices and violet. Sebastian Zuccardi noted that if this fruit was picked overripe, it would show blacker fruits but would lose its herbal quality..July/2018

The Zuccardi wines I tasted in April were consistently superb and the estate’s top wines are among the finest being made in Argentina today. Zuccardi owns several prime sites in Uco Valley, including their two highest vineyards in Gualtallary and San Pablo, both of them rich in calcaire. Like some of his colleagues who are seeking to preserve terroir differences in their various wines, Sebastian Zuccardi vinifies mostly in concrete tanks and eggs, and also makes extensive use of concrete and used foudres to age his wine. He told me that he hasn’t purchased any new barriques in the past four years. The Zuccardi wines are hardly cheap but they are well worth seeking out. - From Argentina’s Wines Enter the World Stage (Jul 2018) by Stephen Tanzer

Zuccardi expressed through each of its wines, the essence of their origin, the unique and perfect combination of climate, soil, altitude and human work. Each line of Zuccardi wines represents a concept, a belief, a tribute, is the true expression of the vineyard where it was conceived.

The range name Zuccardi Q stems from the practice of marking with a ”Q” -from Quality- the oldest and uniforms plots of each vineyard, which worked with special attention to achieve grapes of exceptional quality batches. Today, the grapes wich is produced Zuccardi Q, come from recognized micro-regions in the Uco Valley and selected old vineyards.

Zaccardi Q Malbec

This wine has good structure with fairly mild tannins. It opens a bit tart but softens on airing for an hour or so. The fruit is lite, leaning toward cherries, not dark fruit like plums. On airing it does not become “fruit forward” leading to my rating of 4 instead of 5 stars, but very drinkable at this price point.
