IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

This red-fruited, round Amarone leads with forest-like earth and portobello mushroom, amping up the flavor with spice and mixed herbs on the palate. It will gain more complexity as the intense fruit falls away over the coming years.

It is produced exclusively from indigenous grapes which, after being harvested in October, are left to dry on the racks in the fruit houses until the following February. Later, the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, from the Tommasi winery, matured for three years in Slavonian oak barrels. It admirably interprets the classic style of the denomination, resulting soft, juicy, structured and complex.

TASTING NOTES
Deep ruby red with purple reflections. The nose is reminiscent of juicy black cherry, dried fruit, sultanas, cooked plum and wild herbs, as well as white pepper, mocha and licorice. Full, complex and velvety in the mouth, fine and round, with soft tannins and long persistence.

PAIRINGS
It goes well with aged cheeses, red meat or game. Excellent with herbs hare.

Poor service and judgement

I ordered the 2013 Amarone but was sent 2015 without even being advised. When I called in was told they were out and sent the other. I was compensated for the shipping but not fully as the 2015 was not nearly as good and will be awhile until ready to drink. Never should have happened!
