Thierry et Pascale Matrot Meursault Perrieres 2015 |
Bright pale yellow. Knockout nose combines fresh pineapple, citrus peel and crushed stone. Dry, saline and tactile, with powerful minerality and the inner-mouth energy of the vintage's best examples. Like chewing on a rock. Dense but weightless wine, with a slowly building, inexorable finish featuring outstanding steely minerality and lift. Very impressive.
By the typical standards of this wine the nose is unusually expressive with textbook Perrières aromas of mineral reduction, citrus, acacia blossom and pear. The detailed, intense and ultra-refined medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of that beguiling sense of underlying tension as well as an abundance of minerality on the driving, bone dry and crisp finale.
A broad, plush white, with peach and apple pie flavors. The richness is offset by bright acidity, while the finish persists with hints of butterscotch and spice. Best from 2015 through 2024. 120 cases made
