Thierry et Pascale Matrot Maranges Vieilles Vignes 2017

The most southern appellation of the Côte de Beaune. The vines are planted on steep marly limestone slopes facing southeast. A robust wine full of character, with rich fruity aromas. A concentration of red fruit and peppery notes.

A slightly more elegant and fresh nose combines notes of equally bright red cherry, currant and pungent earth nuances. There is both good energy and detail to the slightly denser flavors that culminate in a rustic bitter cherry pit-inflected finish.
