Paul Pernot Bienvenues Batard Montrachet 2017 |
Charming and expressive, the 2017 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru bursts with aromas of ripe apples, white flowers, vanilla pod and crisp peach. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, pure and elegant with an ample core, understated depth and juicy balancing acids. More elegant and less textural than the Bâtard, this is an open, giving Bienvenues which will give pleasure with only a modicum of bottle age.
The 2017 whites are consistently excellent, delivering energy and a sense of place. Not as tightly wound as the 2010s, the 2017s are more similar to the charming and thoroughly enjoyable 2014s... Indeed Paul Pernot, one of the most consistent names in Puligny Montrachet, made exceptional white wines in 2017 that are zesty, penetrating and powerful, but retain Pernot's hallmark of finesse.
