Lazy Creek Vineyards Rose Of Pinot Noir 2017 |
TASTING NOTES
Beautiful pale pink in color, our 2017 Lazy Creek Vineyards Rosé of Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley is a light, delicious Rosé. Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, this wine has fresh, delicate aromas and flavors of strawberry, white cherry, watermelon, orange blossom, orange creamsicle and citrus with nice floral notes, a touch of spice and refreshing acidity.
VINTAGE NOTES
After years of drought, 2017 started off with ample amounts of rain, which meant a lot of available water in the soil that created good canopies on the vines and average to above-average yields. Summer was very warm with a few heat spikes as harvest neared. There were also a few, light rain showers that came through the area, but did not affect the fruit. Harvest was completed in early October.
WINEMAKER NOTES
This 100% Rosé of Pinot Noir is sustainably farmed, utilizing only organic materials in the vineyards. The grapes are hand harvested in the early morning hours, then transported to the winey where they are gently destemmed, crushed and cold soaked on the skins for a brief period before pressing — just long enough to pick up the wine’s lovely pink hue and extract flavors from the skins — then pressed to tank. After 24 hours of settling, yeast is added and fermentation is kept cold to retain aromas. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is racked and SO2 is added to inhibit malolactic fermentation. The wine was blended in December and then bottled in February.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Served chilled, this wine’s light, floral characteristics make it a natural choice for pairing with fresh seafood, especially salmon, crab or shrimp, mushrooms and game meats such as venison, duck, Cornish hens, lamb, or turkey. Try with eggs Benedict, vegetable or seafood frittata or breakfast crepes. Mild cheeses such as fresh chèvre, mozzarella, fromage blanc, or Mt. Tam triple cream are also delicious.
