Lake Sonoma Winery Chardonnay 2014 |
Pale light golden straw color. Baked, elegant aromas of toasted coconut, apple chips, nougat, and apple butter with a crisp, dryish medium body and a complex, long crisp apple cider, freshly grated nutmeg, apple chutney, and autumn leaves finish with cottony tannins and moderate oak. An autumnal oaky Chardonnay with shining acidity and spiced apple flavors.
Our 2014 Chardonnay highlights the cool climate Russian River Valley with aromas of candied ginger, lemon rind, orange blossom and lightly sweetened oak. Rich, lemon cream coats the palate with lingering toastiness, leading to a harmonious finish. Partial fermentation in stainless steel tanks prior to this wine’s barrel aging allows for the wine to maintain crisp chardonnay fruit flavors while developing the richness that sur lees aging provides.
The 2014 Chardonnay shows notes of honeysuckle, white peach, a touch of tropical fruit, delicate oak, and a medium-bodied, crisp, fresh finish. There is even a touch of minerality in this light-straw-colored wine with a greenish hue. This is excellent Chardonnay.
