J.M. Boillot Pommard-Rugiens 2017 |
Dense, serious, structured and concentrated and easily the best wine of these four, displaying earthy but bright pinot aromas and complex, sappy, sweet flavors and a structured, very long finish. The old vine intensity and extract adds an extra dimension and the depth here is lovely. Very impressive in the context of the vintage.
Good medium red. Complex, soil-inflected aromas of red fruits, pepper, woodsmoke and truffle. Comes across as more oaky and less fruit-dominated than the Jarollieres, but with distinctive, complex notes of spices, underbrush and earth. Thick and dense, even powerful for the vintage, finishing with sweet but strong tannins.
