Cos d'Estournel Saint-Estephe 2011 |
Bright ruby red color. Delicious black fruits on the nose, with spicy notes of black pepper and vanilla. Long and velvety, combining both power and elegance on the palate. Silky tannins.
Powerful, very rich and very concentrated, this epitomizes the opulent style of Cos d’Estournel. A sense of extraction is overwhelmed by the huge, ripe fruit. It shows velvet texture at first, but then the tannins come on strongly, leaving a wine that will age over many years.
Offers ample, almost flashy fruit, with layers of fig, boysenberry and blackberry pâte de fruit rushing forth, lined with anise and toasted spice details. Stays flattering through the finish and will win some fans, but lacks the grip and density for the long haul.
