Chateau d'Yquem - 1 Bottle each 2007, 2011, 2014 |
Deep gold, with an intense Botrytis nose of saffron and dried apricot. The satiny damask texture is sensuous and extravagant in its sheer volume. Long and intense flavour that continues to develop. Quince tart, roasted walnuts, notes of cinnamon, star anise and spicy white radish. There is a bitter phenolic on the finish, very pronounced,
Translucent medium lemon yellow colour. Pronounced, complex, vivid aromas of fresh apricot, mango, pineapple, mandarin and fragrant liquid honey. The palate is very sweet (145g/ltr sugar) & has fresh acidity. Again the fabulous array of mango & pineapple flavours were displayed on the palate, where they were augmented by note of honeysuckle & marzipan. The finish possessed wonderful length.
Apricot tones with lively acidity give this rich wine a vein of freshness. Pear and white peach notes offer weight, while a lime backbone brings levity. There is a richness from the botrytis that is lifted by this wines delicious freshness.
