Camille Giroud 19 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos Des Godelles

The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos des Godelles 1er Cru is matured with 40% whole bunch. That comes through quite strongly on the nose, which is peppery and earthy, and nicely defined if just driven by the stem addition at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit, the whole bunch element again influencing the peppery finish. 

This is an historic – and rather more alluring – name for the Le Village vineyard in the centre of Morey. Carel was able to buy grapes this year – last year he bought the wine – and so could use 40% whole-bunch.  This is fabulous: a seamless stream of bright blueberry fruit flows around the wine’s central pillar of minerality.
