Arinzano La Casona 2010 |
Wine Advocate 93 points - The 2010 La Casona, is the second wine from this single-vineyard appellation, a pure Tempranillo (in previous vintages it had some Merlot), which in 2010 was very lactic with notes of yogurt, some reductive tones, developing aromas of tobacco, raspberries and graphite. It is medium-bodied, with good acidity, a little sour in the palate, with well-integrated wood. Drink now-2017..Luis Gutirrez, June/2014
James Suckling 91 points - A big red that’s begining to mature nicely, but still has a lot of tannic power. Dry, slightly grainy finish, but no astringency. Drink now..July/2017
The aim is to create wines that express the singular character of the Arinzano estate vineyards. We use the most advanced and careful techniques to guarantee an artisanal treatment through the whole winemaking process, and we pursue a viticulture that not only respects, but actually favours the natural environment. As a result, Arinzano is one of the few estates in all of Spain to be recognized with Pago status, and the first Pago in the North of Spain.
The Pago classification is Spain’s highest category for winemaking, above D.O.Ca. It is awarded only to estates that exhaustively demonstrate not only an excellent and unique climate and terroir, but also a winemaking that turns these inheritent qualities into extraordinary wines. After years of exhaustive demonstration of the unique qualities of its climate, geology, and vines, Arinzano is the first estate in the north of Spain to receive this honour.
