From Yakima Valley, WA. Airfield Estates uses 100% estate fruit.
This wine displays gorgeous fruit characteristics of black currant and boysenberry compote intertwined This fine Bordeaux blend presents an array of black current - boysenberry - and toasted oak with firm tannins that carry through to a long finish.
One of the most recognized labels produced by this multi-generation grape-growing family, the blend changes from year to year. Syrah (57%) and Malbec (16%), and those varieties help give it a theme of purple-toned fruit akin to plum, blueberry and Marionberry. There are exotic oaky notes to the nose with clove, patchouli, cocoa and pine resin, while the drink is bold and juicy with splashes of elderberry and cherry joining in.
Gorgeous aromas of black currant, cassis, and raspberry jam with intriguing layers of roasted sage and cocoa. The palate is robust with flavors of dried cranberry, smoked fig, dark espresso, and a hint of savory spice that finishes with smooth, silky tannins.
